Introducing the Google TV Network!

On Friday, Google introduced the Google TV Network, adding both unskippable and 6-second “bump” ads on Google TV enabled devices. What this means for advertisers is unclear, but we don’t need a crystal ball to see the benefits to Google, more advertising inventory and profitability on top of their already dominant position in the video content market.

Google’s latest advertising platform offers targeted, in-stream video ads across 125+ channels on Google TV, reaching over 20 million monthly active devices. With popular features like Google Assistant and personalized recommendations, it’s never been easier to connect with audiences on the big screen. Available through Google Ads and Google Display & Video 360, you can seamlessly integrate these campaigns with your existing digital video efforts.

In their release, Google failed to mention whether or not this new advertising revenue will trickle down to content creators, television networks, or TV production companies.

The team at Mediastead will follow this development and share insights with you. We recommend you sign up for Sparks, our biweekly newsletter which, believe it or not, is still ad free! (Except for subtle hints about becoming Mediastead clients. wink)
